The Branding DM: 3 templates

The first message that gets a yes or a no. Never a maybe.

Why most first DMs go nowhere

Most first DMs sound like this:

"Hey! Love your content! How's your week going?"

They reply "thanks!" and that's the end of it. You've just become one of five people who messaged them today, saying the same thing.

A Branding DM has three parts. Keep all three. Add nothing.

The three parts

1

The pattern interrupt

Something specific about THEM that shows you looked. A post they wrote, their group, their offer. Not a compliment.

2

The new way

"There's a new way for [what they call themselves] to [what they want] without [what they hate]." Never mention you, your results, your clients or your product. Nobody cares yet.

3

The low-friction question

5 to 9 words. Asks permission. One action. No call, no "let's chat".

"Mind if I share more?"

The 3 templates

Pick the one that fits who you are writing to. Fill in the brackets, copy it, send it.

Template 1

Hidden potential

For people who already have something: a group, an audience, a list.

[Name], you've got [their group / followers / community]...
There's a new way for [what they call themselves] like you to [desired outcome] without [specific pain].
Mind if I share more?

Template 2

New opportunity

For people actively marketing to someone.

[Name], I noticed you're targeting [their ideal client] with [what they're doing].
There's a new way for [their niche] to [desired outcome] without [specific pain].
Can I share a quick video walkthrough?

Template 3

Belief pattern

For people who posted a frustration.

[Name], I saw your post about [their post] and your frustration with [pain].
Many [their niche] believe [the belief], but there's a simpler way to [desired outcome] without [what they hate].
Shall I send you a quick doc about it?

The follow-up

If no reply after 2 to 3 days

Send this once.

[Name], I put together a short doc and video on how to [desired outcome] without [specific pain].
Mind if I share it with you?

The rules

  1. Send it when you see someone who fits. Don't wait to "build rapport".
  2. A no is fine. It's data. A maybe is what wastes months.
  3. Don't make it longer. It fails when you add more.
  4. Track it: how many sent, how many yes.

The same templates, in a doc you can copy.

Track it without a spreadsheet.

DM Copilot reads every conversation, marks where each person is, and writes the next message. It also finds the people to send the first one to.
